Orbite

I write to the people I love once every five months. Then I spend a while being angry at myself about it.

It isn’t that they fade out of my life. I think about them while I’m walking, in the shower, at three in the morning. The part that stalls is somewhere else: opening the conversation, finding the first line, pressing send. Between meaning to write and writing, there’s a wall only I can see.

Orbite holds that thread for me. When I open the app, the conversation already has a beginning — and nobody asks me where I left off.

Orbite isn’t out yet. There is nothing to download today.

What Orbite keeps alive

The people who matter

The ones I actually think about, not the four hundred entries in an address book.

The thread of what we say

What we last talked about, and what I wanted to tell them next.

The first sentence

The one a conversation starts up again with, when I no longer have it.
